Shifted Reality provides original desktop wallpaper since 2000. I started with Bryce and produced my first images - funny to look at them today 
Here’s an example (my very first wallpaper):
Looks kinda …mmmhh…. minimalistic. Back in 2000, I rendered my images at a resolution of 1024×768 pixels!
OK, I learned and tested some other 3D software, including Worldbuilder, 3D Studio Max, Terragen and Lightwave. And finally I found Vue d’Esprit (called Vue 6 Infinite today). Since that day I never used any other 3D software again. It works just perfect for me. More information about Vue can be found here.
Some words about myself: I’m male, 40 years old and live in Germany. Besides creating rendered desktop wallpapers I like photography, reading and music. I’m into all kinds of science fiction and fantasy stuff: Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Douglas Adams, to name a few.
My hardware: Intel Core 2 Duo box running Vista Ultimate 64 Bit. 8 GB RAM - can’t have enough memory for 3D applications 24″ Widecreen TFT display running at 1920 x 1200 pixels. That’s it.
